Walnut Grove Pioneer Village at Scott County Park IA
Walnut Grove was a Scott County cross-roads settlement and stage coach stop of the 1860s.
Here, you can pretend to be an Iowa pioneer as you and your kids peer into cabins, town stores and a fancy city home.
You can also hop on a real caboose!
The Village includes 18 historic buildings depicting Iowa pioneer life from the 1860’s-1940’s.
Pioneer Village has accessible and modern restroom facilities. It’s the perfect place to romp, learn and explore for kids of any age!
Open daily April through October, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Walnut Grove Pioneer Village at Scott County Park is located at 18817 290th Street, Long Grove, IA.
Heritage Canyon is a 12-acre nature walk dotted with pioneer buildings that take you and your kids back to the 1800’s.
The recreated 1800s village was built in an abandoned limestone quarry.
About an hour’s drive from the Quad Cities, Heritage Canyon includes homes, businesses, a church and other pioneer-era buildings.
The walking path isn’t strenuous, but does include hills.
This is a fun day trip that you and your kids will remember forever. Take a picnic lunch!
